A Puzzle of Pictures
Artist, Mikayla Hammock, is based in Birmingham, Alabama. Her drawings are created using pen and ink with the pointillism technique. Her style of art is a drawing within a drawing. She illustrates scenes that take the shape of a larger subject. The scenes within the drawings tell the viewer about the subject as they form its shape. This encourages them to look at the piece longer as they notice more and more smaller illustrations within it. Her subjects are primarily animals, plants, and insects. She uses this style of a drawing within a drawing to tell the subjects’ stories.
